Drivers across northern Indiana should prepare for several rounds of light snow and increasing cold through early next week as arctic air settles into the region. While snowfall amounts will generally be light, slick roads and reduced visibility are possible at times—especially late Sunday into Sunday night.
The best chance for accumulating snow will be late Sunday into Sunday night, particularly across northwest Indiana, with lighter snow possible at other times through Monday. Breezy conditions and falling temperatures will allow untreated roads to become icy quickly.
Travel impacts are most likely along major routes including Interstate 80/90 (Indiana Toll Road), Interstate 69, US-30, US-20, US-6, and State Roads 2, 8, and 15. Lake-enhanced snow Monday could briefly affect areas north of US-6, leading to patchy slick spots.
Highs will drop into the teens and low 20s, with overnight lows in the single digits. Wind chills between -10 and -20°F are expected by early Tuesday, which can worsen road icing and make travel more hazardous.
Motorists should slow down, increase following distance, and be alert for rapidly changing conditions—especially during snow bursts Sunday night. Cold conditions will persist into next week, keeping winter travel hazards elevated across northern Indiana.
