South Bend, Indiana – Drivers across northern Indiana could face reduced visibility early Thursday morning as fog develops across major highway corridors before milder temperatures and multiple rounds of rain move into the region through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, areas of fog formed overnight and may linger into the early morning hours Thursday, particularly across locations near Interstate 80, Interstate 90, and U.S. Highway 31. Visibility may briefly fall below one-half mile in some areas, creating slower travel conditions for commuters around South Bend, Elkhart, and Goshen.
The fog is expected to lift through the mid-morning hours, giving way to a mild afternoon across northern Indiana. High temperatures Thursday should reach the upper 40s across southern Michigan communities and the low 60s across parts of northern Indiana, including areas along I-69 near Fort Wayne and the U.S. 30 corridor.
Rain chances increase later Thursday night as a weak system moves into the region. Showers could develop across South Bend, Warsaw, and Fort Wayne, with temperatures remaining relatively mild overnight.
According to forecasters, Friday will bring the warmest conditions of the stretch. High temperatures may climb into the upper 60s to lower 70s across much of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. With the warmer air in place, scattered thunderstorms may develop Friday afternoon and evening, particularly along the I-69 and I-90 corridors.
Additional showers and thunderstorms remain possible into Saturday, especially during the morning hours before conditions gradually improve later in the day.
Residents across northern Indiana should monitor changing weather conditions through the end of the week as periods of rain and thunderstorms move through the region. Travelers should remain alert for wet roads and occasional reduced visibility, especially during heavier downpours or early morning fog.
