Fort Wayne, IN – A quick-moving system will bring light snow to much of northern Indiana late tonight into early Sunday, followed by a sharp drop in temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana.
Snow is expected to move in from the west after midnight, becoming widespread toward daybreak Sunday. Most areas will see 1 to 3 inches of accumulation, with the highest totals northwest of I-69 and near the Indiana-Michigan border. Snow will taper off by Sunday afternoon, leaving behind cold, breezy conditions.
Sunday’s highs will only reach the upper 20s to low 30s, and skies will clear by evening. Overnight, temperatures are forecast to plunge into the single digits above zero, with wind chills between -5°F and 0°F.
Minor travel impacts are possible Sunday morning, particularly on untreated roads and bridges. Motorists are urged to use caution and allow extra travel time.
Looking ahead: After a brief dry period early in the week, another round of wintry weather could arrive midweek as temperatures remain below normal.
