Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana residents can expect another stretch of warm, mostly dry weather heading into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Forecasters said Thursday that temperatures will remain above normal for mid-September, with highs near 88 to 89 degrees on Friday under clear skies. Lows Friday night are forecast between 55 and 63 degrees.

According to the NWS Northern Indiana office, a slight chance of rain exists Saturday as moisture edges into the region. Rainfall is not guaranteed, and the best chance for scattered showers will be west of Interstate 15. Highs Saturday are expected to range between 81 and 87 degrees.

“Not everybody gets rain, but western areas have the best chance,” the weather service stated in its Thursday afternoon update. Overnight lows will continue to run mild, staying mostly in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Overall, the region’s weather pattern is leaning warm and dry compared to seasonal averages. That trend is expected to continue through the weekend, offering plenty of dry hours for outdoor activities across Northern Indiana.
