Northern Indiana – A frontal boundary will sag south across northern Indiana today, resulting in a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms may produce gusty winds over 40 mph this afternoon, primarily south of US Route 6. The National Weather Service reports that the chance of thunderstorms will linger tonight, particularly south of US Route 24, before dry conditions return for the end of the work week.
According to the US National Weather Service, today’s high temperatures will range from 76 to 83 degrees, with a 30-50% chance of precipitation. Tonight, temperatures will drop to lows between 56 and 63 degrees, with a continuing chance of evening storms south of US Route 24.
Thursday’s forecast indicates high temperatures between 76 and 82 degrees, with partly cloudy skies and minimal precipitation. Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday and Saturday will see sunny conditions with highs in the low 80s. Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures reaching up to 85 degrees.
The National Weather Service advises residents to stay alert for potential severe weather, particularly in areas south of US Route 6 this afternoon. Isolated strong storms with wind gusts over 40 mph are possible. Air quality in Fort Wayne is currently moderate with an index of 55, similar to yesterday’s conditions.
