Fort Wayne, IN – Bitter cold temperatures and minor snowfall are expected across northern Indiana today, creating potentially hazardous conditions for residents and travelers. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of wind chill values plunging to -10°F or lower this evening, with minor snow accumulations of up to 2 inches in some areas.

According to the NWS, a fast-moving clipper system will bring light snow through early Wednesday morning, primarily north of US-6. Roads may become slick in spots, particularly during morning and evening commutes. Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and take precautions to avoid frostbite in the dangerous wind chill.

Tuesday’s high will range from 17°F to 23°F, but gusty winds up to 20 mph will make it feel much colder. Tonight, temperatures will dip to lows between -1°F and 18°F, with lake-effect snow showers lingering near Lake Michigan.

The frigid trend continues Wednesday, with sunny skies but highs barely reaching 18°F. Wind chill values will remain below zero through midweek. Slight chances of snow persist Thursday before temperatures gradually warm to the mid-30s by Friday.

Travelers along US-6 and US-30 should monitor weather conditions and prepare for icy roads through Wednesday morning. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle and check local road advisories before heading out.
