Fort Wayne, IN – A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for portions of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio until 9 a.m. EDT Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Northern Indiana.
The watch, labeled Severe Thunderstorm Watch 40, includes 12 counties in northern Indiana, two in southwest Michigan, and eight in northwest Ohio. Areas affected in Indiana include Adams, Allen, Blackford, DeKalb, Grant, Huntington, Jay, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties. In Michigan, Branch and Hillsdale counties are under the watch, while Ohio counties affected include Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams.
The NWS warns that storms moving through the region may bring damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall. Residents should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
Major cities and towns within the affected area include Fort Wayne, Lima, Hillsdale, Defiance, and Coldwater. Travelers and residents should monitor local forecasts and be cautious of hazardous conditions, especially in areas prone to flooding or power outages.
