Chicago, IL – A stretch of unsettled weather is on the way for the Chicago area as scattered showers midweek give way to a wetter, stormier weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.
Light showers are expected Wednesday morning, followed by mostly dry conditions through Thursday afternoon. A few passing showers may develop Thursday night into Friday morning, mainly across far northern Illinois, forecasters said.
Rain chances rise significantly late Friday through Sunday, with periods of showers and a few thunderstorms expected. The NWS forecasts a 60–80% chance of rain Saturday and lingering showers Sunday morning, accompanied by breezy conditions and highs in the upper 50s to mid-70s throughout the period.
Despite the rain, temperatures will remain mild for mid-October, ranging from the 60s and 70s by day to 40s and 50s overnight. Residents planning weekend events should prepare for periodic rainfall and gusty winds, especially Saturday.
