Chicago, IL – On this Labor Day, Northern Illinois residents can expect partly cloudy skies and seasonably cool temperatures, ideal for outdoor celebrations. However, the National Weather Service has issued a reminder that swimming conditions in Lake Michigan remain dangerous today due to high rip currents.
As the week progresses, temperatures will stay cool with highs in the mid-70s to low-80s. The forecast highlights clear skies from Tuesday through Thursday, offering pleasant weather for any remaining summer activities. By Thursday night, however, a chance of rain moves in, with showers likely to continue into Friday, bringing cooler temperatures and a possible drop in overnight lows into the 40s.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures near Lake Michigan will remain cooler compared to areas further inland, especially during the early mornings and late evenings. Residents are advised to enjoy the sun early in the week and prepare for potential rain and colder nights starting Thursday.
