Northern Illinois Prepares for Flash Floods Amid Severe Storms Tonight

Chicago, IL – Northern Illinois residents should brace for severe weather conditions as thunderstorms and the potential for flash flooding are expected to impact the region starting tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Chicago has issued warnings for potentially damaging storms and heavy rainfall through Wednesday morning.

According to the NWS, waves of thunderstorms may occur from tonight through Tuesday night. These storms could bring damaging winds, torrential downpours, and flash flooding. If thunderstorms do not develop, Tuesday may still see high heat levels, with heat indices potentially exceeding 100°F. Monday will see highs between 83-88°F with potential overnight storms. Tuesday brings the highest risk of severe storms with temperatures reaching 86-92°F.

Wednesday morning will see storms taper off, leading to cooler temperatures ranging from 77-83°F on Thursday, accompanied by sunny skies. The week will conclude with more showers and thunderstorms on Friday, with highs between 80-85°F.
