Chicago, Illinois – Drivers in northern Illinois may encounter patchy fog early Tuesday morning, but clearer skies and rising temperatures will take over by midweek across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, patchy fog is expected to develop overnight Monday into early Tuesday, with lows ranging from 44 to 48 degrees. Visibility may be reduced during the morning commute, especially along I-55, I-90, and near Lake Michigan. After the fog clears, skies will turn partly sunny with highs reaching into the low 70s.

By Wednesday, high temperatures could climb to the upper 70s in areas south of the city, though cooler conditions will persist near the lakefront. The NWS notes temperatures may actually fall Wednesday afternoon due to shifting winds off Lake Michigan. Lows midweek will range from the mid-40s to upper 40s.

The rest of the week remains quiet, with Thursday and Friday seeing highs in the 60s to low 70s. No significant precipitation is expected, and conditions are ideal for outdoor activities.

Residents are advised to drive with caution early Tuesday due to fog and to enjoy the stretch of dry, warm weather ahead. No additional alerts are in effect, but updates will follow if conditions change.
