Atlanta, Georgia – Northern Georgia is expected to see a generally quiet mid-January weather pattern next week, with limited chances for rain and little to no risk of winter weather from Monday through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, northern Georgia falls within a below-normal precipitation zone during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures are projected to trend above seasonal averages, which should limit rainfall and keep any winter precipitation confined to brief, low-impact mountain flurries at most.

The Atlanta metro area, including Marietta, Alpharetta, and Decatur, is likely to experience several dry days with only isolated rain chances. Farther north, including Gainesville, Dahlonega, and Blue Ridge, a few brief rain showers or flurries cannot be ruled out during overnight hours, but accumulations are expected to remain negligible. Major routes such as I-75, I-85, I-575, I-985, and U.S. 76 are not expected to see weather-related travel issues.

The Georgia Department of Transportation typically reminds drivers that cooler overnight temperatures in the mountains can still lead to patchy fog or isolated slick spots on elevated roadways and shaded curves. Motorists traveling through higher elevations should remain alert during early morning hours.

The drier pattern looks likely to persist through much of the workweek, though minor disturbances remain possible. Overall, weather-related impacts across northern Georgia appear unlikely through Friday.
