Medford, Oregon – Residents across southern Oregon and northern California should prepare for a sharp rise in temperatures, with some areas hitting the low 100s by this weekend. West side valleys and the Brookings area face the highest heat risks, and daytime highs are expected to climb 5 to 10 degrees above normal through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, stable atmospheric conditions will drive a warming trend, putting Brookings and valley communities at Moderate to Major HeatRisk levels. Health officials warn that anyone without reliable access to cooling or hydration is at risk of heat-related illness during this period.

Cities such as Medford, Grants Pass, Brookings, and Yreka are forecast to see temperatures pushing or exceeding 100 degrees. The heat will be most intense in valley locations, with less overnight cooling than usual, raising the risk for vulnerable groups, outdoor workers, and anyone without air conditioning. Residents are urged to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and check on neighbors, especially seniors.

This elevated heat threat will last through at least Monday, and more advisories or warnings could be issued if conditions worsen. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates and be prepared for rapidly changing heat risks.
