Weaverville, CA – A powerful winter storm is blanketing Northern Trinity County with heavy snow, prompting a Winter Storm Warning through 4 p.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts total snow accumulations of up to 23 inches above 3,000 feet, especially around Scott Mountain Pass. Highways 3 and 299, including Buckhorn Summit, are expected to see treacherous driving conditions with snow accumulations down to 3,000 feet.
According to the NWS, travel could become very difficult as roads turn slippery and visibility decreases. Drivers are urged to delay travel or, if necessary, drive cautiously and carry a winter storm kit, including chains, blankets, and water.
The storm is expected to impact communities like Big Bar, Trinity Center, and Weaverville. Residents in affected areas should monitor weather updates and prepare for potential disruptions.
