Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Wind Advisory for Del Norte County, including Crescent City, Smith River, Gasquet, and Klamath, effective from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Forecasters warn that southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are expected along coastal headlands and higher ridges. The strongest winds are anticipated late this morning and early afternoon before easing later in the day.
According to the NWS, the gusty conditions could make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and may cause small branches to break or localized power disruptions near exposed areas.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and use caution when traveling along U.S. Highway 101 and other open coastal routes.
Winds are forecast to subside by late afternoon as the front moves inland. For the latest updates and hazard maps, visit weather.gov/eureka.
