Sacramento, CA – A weekend storm brought rain, gusty winds, and several inches of Sierra snow from Saturday evening through Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento. Snow totals increased as the system moved south across the mountain range, contributing to the first notable early-season accumulation for several ski and Caltrans monitoring sites.
Snowfall amounts over the past 48 hours included 7 inches at Sierra-at-Tahoe, 6.7 inches at the Sierra Snow Lab, 6 inches at Dodge Ridge, and 5 inches at multiple locations such as Bear Valley and Castle Peak. Lighter totals of 1–3 inches were reported in areas like Soda Springs and Kingvale.
Rainfall across the Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills generally ranged from 0.50 to over 2 inches, with the heaviest observed pockets near Redding and the northern Sacramento Valley.
Wind was also a key impact from the storm system. Peak gusts reached 41 mph in Redding, 38 mph at Mather, 37 mph in Red Bluff, and 35 mph at Sacramento International Airport, Stockton, and McClellan.
