EUREKA, Calif. – After a day of soaking rainfall, showers will continue to taper this evening across northwest California before another round of rain arrives Thursday afternoon, extending the region’s wet start to November.

According to the National Weather Service Eureka, rainfall totals from the past 24 hours ranged between 1.25 and 2.5 inches across Humboldt and Del Norte counties, with isolated pockets near 3 inches. Though the heaviest rain has ended, scattered showers will persist overnight, followed by a brief lull before the next system moves in from the Pacific on Thursday.

The upcoming storm will mainly target the North Coast, bringing roughly another inch of rain through Thursday night. Locations including Crescent City, Eureka, and Fort Bragg could see periods of moderate rainfall and gusty coastal winds, but widespread flooding is not expected. Minor ponding on roads and reduced visibility may cause localized travel delays, especially along U.S. Highway 101 and State Route 299.

Residents are encouraged to clear drains and watch for slick conditions on wet pavement. The active pattern will ease heading into the weekend, with showers becoming more scattered by Friday and drier weather likely returning Saturday.
