SACRAMENTO – The morning air is calm and crisp across the Central Valley, with a thin veil of mist clinging to the fields. That quiet, golden autumn sunshine won’t last forever — a new November weather pattern is lining up to bring cooler air and the first real taste of unsettled skies by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, Monday will stay pleasant with highs in the low 70s, following another mild, sunny afternoon. Light winds and mostly clear skies make it a great day for outdoor projects or early holiday decorating. But starting late Tuesday, clouds will thicken, signaling the approach of a weak Pacific storm system expected to bring scattered showers into Wednesday.

Rain chances climb Tuesday night into early Wednesday, mainly north and west of the metro, before spreading into the valley. While totals should stay light — generally under a quarter inch — damp roads and patchy fog could create slower commutes along I-5, Highway 50, and routes through Woodland and Davis.

By Thursday, sunshine returns, though temperatures will dip several degrees below this weekend’s highs. Expect daytime readings in the low to mid-60s with crisp mornings in the 40s. A dry stretch looks likely into the weekend, ideal for leaf cleanup or early Thanksgiving travel prep.

Long-range models hint at a stronger system next week, possibly the region’s first widespread rain event of the month — a classic La Niña November setup, with alternating mild spells and short-lived wet fronts.
