Sacramento, Calif. – Drivers in Sacramento may face slick spots late tonight as a slight chance of thunderstorms develops, but sunshine and rising heat will quickly return to Northern California by the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, there’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight Wednesday into early Thursday, with lows dropping into the mid-60s. Winds will stay light, though localized downpours could briefly impact evening travel.

Thursday and Friday bring a stretch of dry weather, with Friday afternoon climbing to 93 degrees before cooling slightly into the weekend. Saturday stays sunny with highs in the upper 80s, while Sunday turns partly cloudy and breezier, with temperatures falling into the upper 70s.

Those heading outdoors should prepare for warm afternoons Friday and Saturday, staying hydrated and limiting strenuous activity during peak heat. Evening cooling will offer some relief, though temperatures remain above average for late September.

The National Weather Service notes a better chance of showers early next week, which could help ease fire danger after several dry days. Updates are expected as storm chances develop.
