SACRAMENTO, CA — A blanket of gray haze covers the valley this morning as fog drifts through low-lying areas around Sacramento, cooling streets and slowing early commutes along I-5, Highway 99, and I-80. Car roofs glisten with dew, and visibility dips below a mile at times before the fog begins to lift by midmorning.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, calm winds and clear skies will help the region gradually warm into the lower 50s today, bringing mostly sunny skies by late morning. High pressure over Northern California is expected to dominate through the week, keeping conditions dry, mild, and seasonably warm.

By Tuesday, temperatures will rise toward 57°F under partly cloudy skies, while mornings remain cool — near 40°F — with potential for patchy fog and frost in rural and river valley zones. Midweek highs may reach 60°F, marking a stretch of unusually pleasant weather for early December as the storm track stays locked to the north.

Residents returning from Thanksgiving travel can expect ideal driving conditions through Friday, with no rain or strong winds expected. Light haze and morning fog will continue to form before sunrise each day, particularly south of the city and into the Delta.
