San Francisco, Calif. – Coastal California will see a sharp divide in temperatures this week, with San Francisco and nearby shoreline communities holding near 70 degrees while inland valleys heat into the 80s and 90s. The National Weather Service said the marine layer will persist each night and morning before giving way to sunny skies each afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service Bay Area office, San Francisco is expected to stay mostly sunny with highs around 68 to 74 through the weekend, but places like Livermore and Concord could see temperatures push into the low 90s by Saturday. San Jose will warm into the upper 80s, while Monterey and Half Moon Bay stay much cooler in the mid-60s.

Drivers may notice shifting wind patterns, with gusts up to 21 mph expected in the city Tuesday afternoon. Inland areas will see calmer conditions but hotter afternoons, raising the risk for heat-related impacts. Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, especially in East Bay valleys.

The marine influence is expected to hold through Labor Day, keeping coastal communities comfortable while inland regions remain warm. More updates may follow if heat advisories are issued later in the week.
