Eureka, Calif. – A slow-moving Pacific storm is set to soak Northern California early next week, with Crescent City and Eureka bracing for the heaviest rainfall. Totals could exceed an inch in Del Norte County by Wednesday, raising concerns for slick highways and localized ponding on low-lying roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, the first showers will arrive late Sunday, with rainfall intensifying Monday and lingering through at least Wednesday morning. Crescent City may see more than 1 inch, while Orick, Hoopa, and Orleans are likely to collect three-quarters of an inch. Farther south, totals diminish but still bring steady wet weather from Ukiah to Fort Bragg.

Drivers should expect reduced visibility and possible standing water on U.S. 101 through Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Rural routes, including State Routes 36 and 299, could be especially slick during peak rainfall. Residents are urged to clear drains, allow extra travel time, and avoid speeding on rain-slicked highways.

The storm is expected to weaken by midweek, though forecasters caution additional showers could follow later in the week. Advisories may be updated as rainfall totals sharpen.
