SAN FRANCISCO, CA – A calm, gray start to Friday across the Bay gives way to a more active pattern this weekend as Pacific moisture begins to build. The first light rain in weeks could sweep across parts of the San Francisco Bay Area by late Saturday, marking a subtle but important shift toward early winter weather patterns.

According to the National Weather Service in Monterey, Friday will stay mostly sunny and mild, with highs near 67°F. However, clouds increase Friday evening as a weak Pacific front approaches. By Saturday morning, expect thicker clouds, a few stray sprinkles near the coast, and a 40–50% chance of measurable rain by the afternoon. Most areas will see light totals under a tenth of an inch, but roads may turn slick for drivers heading north on U.S. 101 or across the Bay Bridge.

Saturday night brings another window for brief rain, mainly around San Francisco, Oakland, and Marin County. Temperatures stay steady near 56°F, but patchy fog and damp air may linger into early Sunday. The system exits quickly, leaving behind partly sunny skies and highs near 67°F on Sunday afternoon.

By Monday, the Bay Area dries out completely — sunshine returns, and temperatures climb back into the upper 60s to near 70°F. Winds stay light through midweek, creating near-perfect conditions for late-October events and Halloween setup across the city.

While this weekend’s rain won’t break any records, it’s an early reminder that storm season is nearing — and residents should start prepping gutters, checking wipers, and watching for those next Pacific systems lining up offshore.
