Sacramento, CA – Record-breaking heat continues to grip Northern California, with temperatures pushing into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees, shattering multiple daily records across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, several cities including Sacramento, Stockton, and Redding have either tied or broken daily high temperature records over the past few days. Sacramento Executive Airport reached 88 degrees, tying a previous record, while Stockton climbed to 90 degrees, setting a new benchmark for mid-March.

Communities across the Sacramento Valley are experiencing temperatures 15 to 25 degrees above normal, creating conditions more typical of late spring or early summer. The prolonged warmth is increasing early-season concerns such as heat stress for vulnerable populations and accelerated snowmelt in nearby mountain ranges.

Major corridors like I-5 and Highway 99 will remain dry, but drivers should stay alert for changing conditions near rivers and streams due to increased runoff.

The heat wave is expected to continue through the weekend, with additional records possible before temperatures gradually trend closer to seasonal norms early next week.
