Yreka, CA – The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Freeze Warning for parts of western and central Siskiyou County, where temperatures are expected to drop to around 28°F early Monday, October 27.

The warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. PDT Monday, covering the lower Klamath, Scott, and Shasta valleys, including the communities of Yreka, Weed, Fort Jones, Etna, Greenview, Happy Camp, and Montague.

According to the NWS, frost and freezing conditions could kill crops, harm sensitive vegetation, and damage outdoor plumbing if not properly protected. While some low-lying fog and cloud cover may limit freezing in isolated spots, most valley areas face a 50% or greater chance of temperatures below 32°F.

Residents are encouraged to cover tender plants, drain outdoor hoses, and wrap exposed pipes to prevent damage. Pet owners should also ensure animals have warm shelter overnight.

Temperatures are expected to rebound into the 50s by Monday afternoon before another chilly morning returns midweek.
