Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Wind Advisory for Del Norte County’s coastal areas—including Crescent City, Smith River, Ft. Dick, and Klamath—from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a High Wind Watch from Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon.

Forecasters say south to southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, could hit the Del Norte coast, especially along windward ridges and exposed headlands. Friday’s advisory brings slightly lighter gusts near 45 mph before stronger winds move in on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, these winds could down trees and power lines, leading to scattered outages and travel hazards for high-profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items and debris may also become dangerous in exposed coastal areas.

Residents are urged to secure loose objects, monitor updates, and avoid coastal travel during peak wind periods. Utility disruptions and blocked roads are possible through Saturday afternoon.
