Eureka, CA – A storm system is bringing steady rainfall and dangerous coastal conditions to Northern California, affecting travel plans through the Valentine’s Day weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday night will see continued rain with gusty southwest winds up to 24 mph. Friday’s high will be 49°F, with morning showers tapering off by afternoon.

A high surf advisory remains in effect for the Humboldt, Del Norte, and Mendocino coasts through Friday, warning of 20- to 22-foot waves. Officials advise staying off jetties and rocky shorelines.

Saturday offers a brief break with only a 30% chance of rain, but another system moves in late Saturday night, bringing heavier rainfall into Sunday.

Motorists should prepare for slick roads and changing weather through Monday. Stay updated with weather.gov.
