Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued multiple marine alerts for waters from Point St. George to Cape Mendocino, warning of dangerous winds and seas through the weekend.

A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m. Friday, followed by a Gale Warning from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and a Hazardous Seas Watch from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.

Forecasters report south winds of 20 to 25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots, along with seas ranging from 12 to 20 feet. The most severe conditions are expected Friday evening into early Saturday, as a strong system moves through the coastal waters.

According to the National Weather Service, small boats may capsize or sustain damage, and visibility could be significantly reduced in heavy seas. Mariners are strongly advised to remain in port, seek safe harbor, or secure vessels ahead of worsening conditions.

The sea state is expected to remain hazardous into Sunday morning, before gradually subsiding.
