SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Northern California’s late-summer heat is holding steady, with widespread 90-degree highs across the Sacramento Valley Friday, setting the stage for a warmer stretch through the weekend and into next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, temperatures will peak between 93 and 97 degrees across much of the Valley, including Sacramento, Red Bluff, Vacaville, and Modesto. Chico and Stockton are also expected to climb well into the 90s, while coastal cities like San Francisco will remain much cooler in the 70s.

The agency says the warming trend will intensify late this weekend, with some Valley locations potentially pushing into the triple digits by early next week. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during the afternoon, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors as heat risk increases.

Highs near 95 are forecast for Stockton and Modesto Friday, with Sacramento expected to top out around 93. Redding and Marysville may reach 97, while areas farther north, including Weaverville and Burney, will see upper 80s.

Hot conditions are expected to persist into early next week, and additional heat advisories may be issued if temperatures push above 100 degrees.
