SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento is set to heat up quickly after a mild weekend, with daytime highs climbing into the mid-90s by early next week. The National Weather Service reports sunny skies will dominate through Wednesday, with temperatures peaking near 97 degrees by midweek.

According to the weather service, Friday and Saturday will bring comfortable conditions, with highs in the upper 80s and lows dipping near 60 degrees overnight. Winds will remain light out of the southwest. By Sunday, highs reach 86, but the heat intensifies starting Monday as Sacramento pushes into the low 90s, with the hottest stretch expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

The warming trend will impact much of the Sacramento Valley, including Roseville, Elk Grove, and Davis, where rising temperatures could increase fire risk and strain cooling systems. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Clear skies at night will provide little relief, with overnight lows remaining in the low to mid-60s. Hot, dry weather is expected to persist through at least midweek. Additional advisories may follow if triple-digit heat develops.
