Sacramento, Calif. – Dangerous heat will grip Northern California starting Friday morning, with highs soaring into the triple digits and posing a major health risk through late Saturday. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory covering Sacramento, the northern San Joaquin Valley, and up through Shasta Lake.

According to the NWS, temperatures will range from 95 to 107 degrees Friday and Saturday, with overnight lows staying in the mid-60s to upper 70s, offering little relief. The advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. Friday until 11 p.m. Saturday. Areas of major HeatRisk are expected across the Sacramento Valley, including Chico, Red Bluff, Marysville/Yuba City, and Stockton.

Heat-related illnesses are a growing concern during this stretch, particularly for those working outdoors or without reliable access to cooling. Officials urge residents to drink water frequently, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on vulnerable neighbors and relatives. Early morning or evening is the safest time for strenuous activity, while lightweight clothing and shaded breaks are strongly recommended.

In Sacramento, Friday’s high will hit 102 before dipping slightly to 100 on Saturday. Conditions ease by Monday, with highs trending into the upper 90s before gradually falling back into the low 90s by midweek.

Warnings remain in place through Saturday night, and additional advisories could follow if heat lingers into early next week.
