Eureka, CA – A Frost Advisory remains in effect for much of northwestern California through 9 a.m. Wednesday, with the National Weather Service in Eureka warning that temperatures near freezing could damage outdoor plants and crops across the region.

The advisory covers areas including the Northern Humboldt Coast, Trinity County, Mendocino County, and Southern Lake County—affecting cities such as Eureka, Arcata, Ukiah, Clearlake, Willits, and Weaverville. Overnight lows are expected to dip to 32–33°F, allowing widespread frost formation in valleys and sheltered areas.

Forecasters say the coldest temperatures will occur just before sunrise, with frost likely on vehicles, rooftops, and exposed vegetation. While roads are not expected to freeze, motorists should remain cautious on bridges and shaded routes that may become slick.

Residents are encouraged to cover sensitive plants, bring pets indoors, and protect outdoor plumbing from the cold. The chilly air is expected to lift by mid-morning Wednesday as temperatures rise under clearer skies.

Warmer conditions are expected to return later this week, but forecasters say another cold morning may be possible in low-lying inland valleys by Thursday.
