EUREKA, Calif. – Clear skies and mild coastal weather will dominate Humboldt County through midweek, but a change is on the way as Pacific moisture brings rain chances back to the North Coast by Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, high pressure will keep conditions mostly sunny and calm through Wednesday, with daytime highs in the mid-70s inland and upper 60s along the coast. Winds will remain light, shifting north-northwest in the afternoons before easing overnight.

Cloud cover begins to build Wednesday evening, marking the start of a pattern change. A weak system from the Pacific will move into the region Thursday, bringing a slight chance of rain during the day and a higher likelihood of steady showers Thursday night into Friday. Rain could linger through the weekend, with highs cooling into the lower 60s.

Drivers along U.S. 101 and residents in low-lying areas should be prepared for wet pavement and slower commutes starting late Thursday. More showers are expected through the weekend before partial clearing by Sunday afternoon.
