EUREKA, Calif. – After a stretch of sunny, calm days on the North Coast, residents should prepare for a turn in the weather as rain chances build by Sunday. Fog will linger at night and in the early morning hours, impacting visibility on coastal roads before a shift to cloudier skies late in the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, daytime highs will hold steady in the mid-60s through Friday, with light north winds gusting up to 20 mph at times. Tonight brings patchy fog after 8 p.m., creating potential hazards for drivers on U.S. Highway 101 and local routes through Humboldt County.

Thursday and Friday will stay mostly sunny, offering mild conditions for outdoor activities. However, by Saturday night, clouds will thicken, leading to a slight chance of rain after 11 a.m. Sunday. Showers may become more widespread by Sunday night and continue into early next week.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the clearer midweek weather but remain alert for reduced visibility at night and possible wet roads by late weekend. Additional advisories could be issued as the rain system develops.
