Eureka, CA – Residents of Northern California should prepare for an unsettled weather pattern starting Thursday, with increasing chances of rain and isolated thunderstorms through Friday, tapering off by Saturday. According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Eureka, the weather will shift as a storm system moves through the region, bringing precipitation to several counties, including Trinity and Humboldt.

The chance of rain will increase significantly on Thursday, especially in areas such as Big Bar and Gasquet, where precipitation probabilities could reach up to 70% and 60%, respectively, by Thursday evening. Meanwhile, isolated thunderstorms are also expected to develop, with a 15% chance in NE Trinity County. By Friday, the risk of thunderstorms will spread across much of the interior regions, with probabilities ranging from 15% to 25%.

The National Weather Service advises residents to be prepared for sudden gusty winds, brief heavy downpours, and possibly small hail during these storms. Friday is expected to be the most active day, with a 45% chance of rain in Eureka, followed by clearing conditions into the weekend.

Temperatures will remain mild throughout this period, with highs ranging from the low to mid-60s. Saturday and Sunday are expected to bring a reprieve from the wet weather, with sunny skies returning to much of the region.
