Medford, Ore. – Dry skies hold steady across southern Oregon through Saturday before a weak system brings cooler air and scattered showers on Sunday. Residents in Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas counties should expect a brief break from early September warmth as highs dip into the 60s and 70s.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, the highest chance of showers will be in the Cascades and east side counties on Sunday, where rainfall totals could range between a quarter and half an inch. Coastal areas may also see light rain as cooler marine air moves inland.
Travelers using I-5 between Grants Pass and Ashland should prepare for wet pavement and possible reduced visibility during showers Sunday afternoon. East of the Cascades, drivers could also encounter slick roads and gusty winds.
By Monday, temperatures rebound as high pressure returns, pushing west side valley highs back into the low 80s. East side communities, including Klamath Falls and Lakeview, should see highs climb into the 70s to near 80 on Tuesday and Wednesday under mostly sunny skies.
Stable, warm weather looks to dominate into midweek, with no additional storm systems expected until late next week.
