Roseburg, Ore. – Southern Oregon and far Northern California will bake under dangerous heat starting Friday afternoon, with triple-digit temperatures expected across valleys from Roseburg to Klamath Falls. The National Weather Service has extended a heat advisory for Douglas County through Sunday evening, while areas east of the Cascades and into Siskiyou and Modoc counties will remain under advisory until Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, daytime highs will range from 95 to 104 degrees, with overnight lows staying in the mid-50s to mid-60s. Cities including Roseburg, Klamath Falls, Lakeview, Alturas, Mount Shasta, and Dunsmuir are among the hardest hit. The advisory warns that prolonged heat and limited overnight relief could increase the risk of heat-related illness, especially for older adults, children, and those without access to cooling.

Health officials recommend limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, seeking shade or air conditioning, and drinking plenty of water. Residents are also urged to check on vulnerable neighbors and avoid leaving pets or children in vehicles.

The heat will ease sooner east of the Cascades, with relief arriving Saturday night in Klamath and Lake counties. However, Douglas County is expected to remain under sweltering conditions until late Sunday evening.
