Flagstaff, Arizona – Scorching temperatures are set to grip northern Arizona through early next week, with cities like Camp Verde and Tuba City expecting highs well into the triple digits by Sunday and Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, Saturday’s highs already reached 104°F in Camp Verde, 100°F in Tuba City, and 97°F in Payson. The heat will intensify on Sunday, with highs ranging from 88°F in Flagstaff to 107°F in Camp Verde. The heatwave will persist through at least Tuesday across the region.

Residents in lower elevations—including Prescott, Winslow, and Window Rock—should prepare for daytime highs above 90°F for five straight days. Officials urge residents to avoid strenuous outdoor activity between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors or vulnerable individuals. Urban areas and canyons may experience even hotter conditions due to limited airflow and heat retention.

This early summer heat comes amid an already dry stretch, increasing fire danger and energy demand. No cooling rains are expected before midweek.

Temperatures may ease slightly by Wednesday, but advisories may be extended if high pressure systems persist.
