FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A powerful fall system is sweeping across northern Arizona, prompting Wind Advisories and Flood Warnings that could impact travel and outdoor plans Tuesday. Forecasters warn of gusts up to 50 mph and localized flooding from heavy rainfall in parts of Coconino County.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff reports that southwest winds will increase through the morning, peaking in the afternoon with sustained speeds of 20–30 mph and higher gusts across exposed ridges and open highways. Drivers on Interstates 17 and 40 should use caution — particularly those operating high-profile vehicles such as RVs and trucks.

A Flood Warning remains in effect near Moenkopi Wash, where elevated water levels are creating hazardous conditions. Residents are urged to avoid low-water crossings, especially at night, and to find alternate routes if flooding occurs.

By Wednesday, skies begin to clear as the storm exits the region. Sunshine will return with highs near 56°F and calmer winds expected by midweek. The remainder of the week looks dry and seasonable, with daytime highs climbing into the upper 50s and lows dipping into the 20s and 30s.
