FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona may see its first light sprinkles in days as weak disturbances move across the region through Thursday, offering only limited rain chances but plenty of fall breezes and cool air. The National Weather Service in Flagstaff says any precipitation that does fall will be light and brief, with the best chance north of town toward the Utah border.

According to the NWS Flagstaff office, scattered clouds and isolated showers will pass through today and Thursday, though most locations will remain dry. Rainfall amounts are expected to stay below a tenth of an inch. Daytime highs will hover in the mid-60s across the high country, dipping into the upper 30s to low 40s overnight.

Winds will pick up from the southwest at 10–20 mph this afternoon, gusting higher at times in open terrain. Travelers along I-40 and Highway 89 should expect crosswinds and areas of blowing dust in the Little Colorado River Valley. Despite the slight chance of a rumble of thunder near Page or Kayenta Thursday, widespread storms are not anticipated.

Cool, dry conditions will return Friday as high pressure builds back over the Southwest, keeping sunny skies in place through the weekend.
