Flagstaff, Arizona – Flagstaff will see gusty winds and rising fire concerns beginning Saturday afternoon as dry air and breezy conditions take hold across northern Arizona. Wind gusts could top 30 mph in exposed areas, complicating travel and increasing the risk of wildfire spread through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, winds will strengthen Saturday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., with sustained speeds of 17 to 22 mph and gusts approaching 30 mph. Dry, sunny weather will dominate the region with highs nearing 88°F through Monday.

Stronger wind bursts are expected along U.S. Route 180, Interstate 17 south of town, and the Mogollon Rim, where visibility could be reduced by dust. Southwest winds will remain elevated through Monday, peaking again Sunday afternoon with gusts near 26 mph.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure loose items, and use caution during outdoor activities. Travelers pulling trailers or driving high-profile vehicles should expect crosswinds, especially during peak gust hours each afternoon.

The breezy, dry pattern is expected to ease slightly by Tuesday, though a few isolated thunderstorms may develop by midweek.
