Flagstaff, AZ – The brief break in Northern Arizona’s monsoon activity is coming to an end as moisture gradually increases from the south. The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued an alert for isolated showers and thunderstorms expected to develop on Wednesday. These storms will be the first wave of increased activity, with more frequent and intense coverage anticipated each day thereafter.

The primary threats associated with these monsoon storms include lightning, small hail, strong outflow gusts ranging from 40-50 mph, and brief periods of heavy rainfall. Residents in the affected areas should prepare for potentially hazardous conditions, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when storm activity is expected to peak.

Storms are projected to move toward the northwest at a speed of 10-15 mph, impacting areas across Northern Arizona, including Flagstaff and its surrounding communities. While Wednesday will see isolated activity, the coverage of storms will expand through the week, bringing more widespread rainfall and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will remain relatively stable, with highs reaching the mid-80s through Friday before dipping slightly into the low 80s over the weekend. Nighttime lows will stay cool, hovering around the upper 50s to low 60s. Residents are urged to stay informed of weather updates and take precautions during severe weather events.
