FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Arizona is kicking off the first full week of October with classic fall warmth and bluebird skies stretching across the high country. Calm conditions will dominate through midweek, giving residents a few golden days to enjoy outdoor plans, decorate for Halloween, or visit local pumpkin patches before a change late week.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, daytime highs will climb into the low 70s through Wednesday under abundant sunshine. Winds stay mostly light, though gusts could reach 20 mph along I-17 and Highway 89A on Tuesday afternoon. Nights will remain crisp, dipping into the mid-30s to lower 40s — cool enough to remind residents that fall has settled in.

Forecasters say the region’s dry stretch will end Thursday as a weak Pacific system slides in from the west. A few isolated thunderstorms may develop by Thursday evening, bringing brief gusty winds and the first light showers of the month. The chance of measurable rain increases slightly into Friday, especially south of town toward Sedona and Camp Verde.

Drivers should monitor road updates from ADOT if showers develop later in the week, and homeowners should secure outdoor décor before gustier winds arrive. Until then, clear skies and mild afternoons make this a prime window for fall hikes, yard work, and leaf-viewing drives through the San Francisco Peaks area.
