Huntsville, Alabama – A wave of thunderstorms is expected to return to northern Alabama this weekend, with a 60% chance of showers and storms likely beginning Sunday morning and continuing through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, a frontal boundary over the Southeast will drive scattered thunderstorms, with localized downpours and isolated lightning possible each afternoon. Rainfall totals remain generally light, but stronger storms could drop more than a quarter inch in short bursts.

Sunday will start partly sunny before storms develop by late morning, especially east of I-65 near Jackson and Madison counties. Wind gusts up to 15 mph may accompany stronger cells. Monday and Tuesday continue the pattern with 40–60% rain chances, mostly during the afternoon and early evening hours.

While no widespread flooding is expected, drivers should watch for slick roads during peak commute hours. Outdoor plans may be impacted, and residents are advised to monitor forecasts and secure electronics and valuables against sudden downpours.

Rain chances gradually taper by Wednesday night. Another round of storms may build by late next week.
