Huntsville, Alabama – A tornado watch is now in effect across 11 counties in northern Alabama, including Huntsville and Cullman, as severe thunderstorms with rotation potential move through the region Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Tornado Watch 305 was issued at 2:35 p.m. CDT and will remain active until 10 p.m. Tuesday. The alert covers Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties.
Storms capable of producing tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds are expected to develop and track eastward into the evening. Areas near U.S. Highway 72 and I-65 may see rapid storm development, especially near Decatur, Florence, and Scottsboro. Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings and seek shelter immediately if a tornado warning is issued.
