Green Bay, Wisconsin – Severe thunderstorms are on the move and could impact travel conditions across north-central and east-central Wisconsin through this evening. These storms bring a marginal risk of damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding. Additionally, patchy, dense fog may develop late tonight, creating low-visibility hazards for drivers.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the threat for these thunderstorms is present through Thursday night. The affected regions include counties such as Vilas, Oneida, Marinette, Shawano, and Brown County. Spotter activation may be needed later this afternoon and evening to monitor the storms’ progression. Residents in these areas should be prepared for potential power outages and difficult driving conditions.

Beyond today, hot and humid weather is expected to settle in for Friday and Saturday, with heat indices reaching into the 95 to 100 range. Another round of thunderstorms is possible Saturday afternoon through Sunday night, with a slight risk of severe weather. The heat combined with humidity and storm chances could put a strain on the power grid.

An increased risk of rip currents will also be a concern for Lake Michigan beaches from Saturday morning through Saturday evening. A Beach Hazard Statement may be issued, and swimmers should exercise extreme caution. Conditions are expected to become more settled early next week, but residents should remain vigilant for the duration of the weekend’s threats.
