Buffalo, Wyoming – Travelers in northeast Wyoming should brace for a dangerous wind event Thursday, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph expected across Johnson County, including the Buffalo area.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, a High Wind Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, with the strongest gusts expected between noon and 4 p.m. Sustained northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph could make travel hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles on I-90 and U.S. Highway 16.

Wind-sensitive areas like mountain passes and open stretches near Buffalo could see brief white-knuckle conditions for drivers. Officials urge drivers of RVs, trucks, and trailers to delay travel if possible. Residents are also encouraged to secure outdoor furniture, trampolines, or other loose objects before winds pick up.

Though the warning expires by early evening, breezy conditions may linger through the night. Additional advisories are not expected at this time but could be issued if conditions worsen.
