Green Bay, Wisconsin – A stretch of active winter weather continues across northeast Wisconsin, with a brief wintry mix early today giving way to milder conditions before colder air, gusty winds, and accumulating snow arrive late Thursday and linger into Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, areas north of the city, including Marinette County, could see a light wintry mix this morning as air and pavement temperatures hover near freezing. A thin glaze of ice is possible in spots before temperatures rise into the mid-30s to mid-40s later today, limiting impacts.
Conditions change Wednesday as colder air moves in behind a front, bringing increasing northwest winds and falling temperatures. Highs in Green Bay are expected to drop into the teens to lower 20s, with wind chills making it feel colder throughout the day. Light snow may linger north and east of the city into Wednesday, though accumulations are expected to remain minor.
The most impactful period arrives Thursday afternoon and evening as another round of snow spreads across the region. Snow chances increase to 60 to 80 percent, with slippery travel possible during the Thursday evening commute. While widespread heavy snow is not expected, several inches are possible in parts of northeast Wisconsin, with lesser amounts closer to the lakeshore.
Snow may continue into Friday, with highs struggling to reach the upper 20s to lower 30s. Untreated roads, bridges, and ramps along Interstate 41, Highway 29, and city streets could become slick at times.
Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and watch for changing road conditions. Residents should prepare for colder air, secure loose outdoor items ahead of gusty winds, and monitor updates as additional advisories may be issued through the end of the week.
