Green Bay, WI – Morning commuters across northeast Wisconsin are facing dangerous travel conditions Sunday as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m.

According to the US National Weather Service in Green Bay, visibility has dropped to as low as one-quarter mile in affected counties, particularly before sunrise. Conditions are expected to improve gradually, with fog lifting by mid-morning.

The advisory covers 13 counties, including Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, and Winnebago. Drivers in these areas are urged to use caution.

“Low beam headlights, slower speeds, and extra distance between vehicles are critical when driving in dense fog,” the agency stated. “Visibility can change rapidly, making it difficult to see the road and other drivers.”

Transportation officials remind motorists that even short trips can be hazardous under these conditions. Those with early morning travel plans should allow extra time and be prepared for sudden reductions in visibility, particularly on rural highways and near waterways.

The advisory is expected to expire by 9 a.m. as fog dissipates, though localized patches may linger slightly longer in low-lying areas.
