Green Bay, Wis. – Residents across northeast and east-central Wisconsin are urged to stay weather-aware as a Tornado Watch remains in effect for eight counties, including Green Bay, Appleton, and Manitowoc, until 7 p.m. Wednesday. The extension comes as powerful storms continue moving through the region, bringing the threat of damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes into the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the watch covers Brown, Calumet, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Outagamie, Waushara, Winnebago, and Waupaca counties, along with cities like Oshkosh, Neenah, Wautoma, and Two Rivers. Adjacent coastal waters from Sturgeon Bay to Sheboygan are also included. Strong thunderstorms are expected to impact travel on highways like I-41 and Highway 10, and residents are advised to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
City officials in Green Bay and Appleton recommend charging mobile devices, securing outdoor objects, and having a safe room ready. Boaters along the Lake Michigan shoreline should monitor conditions closely as severe weather could develop quickly. This round of severe weather follows a similar tornado threat seen last July.
The Tornado Watch is set to expire at 7 p.m., but additional advisories or warnings may follow if storms persist. Stay tuned to local alerts and prepare to act quickly if a tornado warning is issued.
